Giving yourself completely to another person is dangerous.
Giving of yourself to another person is a process, a little at a time, until you know that the person can be trusted. Even then, you must protect yourself, as I said, because the issues of life within you are precious and valuable enough to protect from emotional or physical injury.
People are just that, humans with positive and negative attributes. When you give yourself completely to the positive attributes, you also give yourself to the negatives. You place tender parts of your psyche in the path of that person to be trampled upon if you indiscriminately give of yourself. If you do not use wisdom in this, you are not protecting y9yourself, you are not loving yourself.
So keep a watchful eye, protecting your heart as you would protect a valuable jewel, within a safe place inside of you. You would not flaunt a valuable jewel to be crushed by others or robbed by others or devalued in any way. Don't give your heart completely to another human until you are absolutely sure the person values you and your heart. Therefore, you must protect your heart, your tender soul, from injury or discrimination or ridicule.
This lesson is crucial to your spiritual development, because your spiritual life is affected by your psychological/emotional life. Wounded people withdraw completely from others while they heal. If you protect yourself by treasuring your heart, you will not have to withdraw into yourself, you will continue to pour forth My love and My mercy. Then you can love others as you love yourself.
