Dear One,
To give love to another person is the greatest gift one can ever give, and love is the greatest sacrifice of self that anyone can perform.
Giving of one's self in acts of love come from self-sacrificing emotions that say that the other person is so valuable to you that you would take what is yours and give it to another person. Even if a gift has been bought, it still requires taking your money and your time in the act of buying the gift. Then you have sacrificed your money and your time for another person. The gift is not important, but the act of sacrificing of yourself is important. It says that he or she warrants your consideration and your kindness.
When you give to others you fulfill the sacrificial act of the old covenant which was brought into the new covenant. Giving is an act of sacrifice. My new covenant with men says that I so loved the world that I gave My son. He was part of Me and My giving Him to the world was a sacrifice. He gave His life as a sacrifice for you, the ultimate act of love.
When you give your time or give of your earthly possessions or give complimentary words or give words of encouragement and appreciation to others, you are fulfilling My new covenant of loving so much that you give to others.
Love always gives, whether it's compliments, money, acceptance, forgiveness, goods, mercy, thanksgiving, giving of your time in prayer, or giving possessions and on and on and on. A person who gives is a person who loves very much.
Love God
